African attire

Africa remains an exciting source of inspiration for designers as there is such a wealth of print and ornamentation. Their main items of clothing include long skirts and aprons in beautiful printed or embroidered fabrics. Elaborate beaded necklaces are worn around the neck as well as beaded bracelets and anklets. The headscarf is traditionally worn by married women.

This painting is made on the cartridge sheet with acrylic colors.

Remembering Childhood

Childhood is one of the happiest periods in a person’s life. As a kid, we all were carefree, cheerful and had almost no duties, responsibilities and problems.

Everybody has some childhood memories. Whether these memories are filled with joy or with sadness, these little stories are part of our lives. These stories keep coming into our memories and sometimes we write about them and sometimes we draw those faded impressions.

Whichever is the way, all mediums helps to relieve us from depression and improves our psychological health.

Here is my pen sketch I tried to depict one of my childhood memories when we used to have unlimited fun at our village home during our summer vacations.

It was full of joy whenever electricity was there in the village (only limited hours in a day). We had a small black and white television set that time which we had placed in a room very carefully but the problem was having the good picture in it due to poor signals. So, we used to climb rooftop without losing any moment to adjust the antennae to get a better signal. We didn’t care about anything except our full enjoyment.

Those were the days. Looking back recollecting those moments looks funny but are evergreen memories. So this is my childhood memory which I put in this sketch. Obviously I felt good after completing my work. Hope you like it too!

Thanks and have a great day ahead.

SEOUL - When South Korean businessman Kim Yong-tae worked with North Koreans at the Kaesong Industrial Complex before it was closed in 2016, one of the biggest challenges was communicating in what is ostensibly a shared language.

"There were confounding moments because there were terms I never heard of while working and living just in South Korea," he said, describing blank looks from some North Korean workers when he used the word "container," which is pronounced similar to its English term in South Korea.

View from my Kitchen Window

Urban sketching is an art of drawing locations in cities, towns, and villages where the artists live. Whether he is traveling, holidaying, or just relaxing at any place, he just sketches anything on the spot.

Draw anything whether it’s your living room, your dirty piles of dishes, your wet clothes hanging on the line, just anything. Don’t ever get disturbed and think that someone is watching you. This is normal in the initial days.

There are no rules and techniques for doing urban sketching as such, but in whatever way you start drawing, your sketches becomes your own technique later. Most important thing is enjoying yourself.

Here I sketched a scene out of my kitchen window on one lazy afternoon. It was on the spot. I roughly did my sketch with a pencil first. Then darkened it with pen and filled with water colors.

Opinions and experience sharing welcomed.

Thanks and have a good day ahead

Women

Women play multiple roles of being a good daughter, a good sister, a good wife and a good mother, and now she successfully plays a role of a working woman contributing to national growth. She has the power to manage each and every tough situation easily.

With her tender love and care, she can heal all the wounds of others from a simple scratch to a deep heart wound. She looks very soft outwardly and has unmatchable strengths. Her tears are her power. She shows her love, pray to God and with these tears, she can remove her loneliness.

This painting is made on cartridge sheet with acrylic colours.
Dimensions: 20.5 cm × 28.5 cm( 8×12 In)

Thanks and have a blessed day.

Kolkata, Glimpse of the City of Joy

Kolkata is one of the oldest cities of India. It is culturally very rich. Tourists identify Kolkata with the Victoria Memorial, the Howrah Bridge, Bengal sweets, and the hand-pulled rickshaws.

Kalighat painting originated here in the 19th century. Contemporary artists often depict various aspects of old and modern Kolkata.
It’s the only Indian city to keep up with hand-pulled rickshaws. It’s the first thing which people might notice when they visit Kolkata. Though the rickshaw pullers have gained may flaks from human right activists but they still remain an integral part of Kolkata’s socio-evolution and are the key identifier of Kolkata.

Kolkata’s legacy of hand-pulled rickshaws dates back to Shimla, which was the summer capital for the officials of East India Company of British India. Kolkata is the only city in India where these rickshaws form of public transport.

I depicted one rickshaw puller driving his rickshaw on a rainy day in my pencil drawing. The Victoria Memorial is depicted vaguely in the backdrop.

I used graphites, charcoal pencils and charcoal powder for smudging.

Suggestions welcomed! Thanks and have a nice day ahead.
