Thai police arrest seven teenagers following Bangkok blasts

BANGKOK - Seven students were arrested on Saturday (Aug 3) by Thai police following a series of bomb blasts in Bangkok on Friday, but they admitted to planting only one explosive device to attack their rivals, police said.

They told investigators they had no political motives or links to the other five explosions that occurred in other parts of Bangkok on the same day, said Teerapong Wongratpitak, chief of Metropolitan Police Division 4 yesterday.

The boys, aged 15 to 17, are students at a technical school.

They confessed to placing the device on Rama 9 Road in Suan Luang district that injured 3 street cleaners.

Apart from that explosion, two other small blasts went off near the BTS Skytrain Chong Nonsi station in central Bangkok, and three at a government complex on Chaengwattana Road in the outskirts of Bangkok.

10 Singapore hotels with infinity pools that are cheaper than Marina Bay Sands

*/ /*-->*/

The infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands Hotel is so legendary that people are willing to risk jail time by sneaking in disguised as hotel guests.

Well, yes, the view is amazing, but the pool is also packed to the brim with tourists wielding selfie sticks. There's surely a more affordable - and not to mention, legal - way to enjoy an infinity pool in Singapore.

Here are 10 hotels in Singapore that not only also have infinity pools but are a lot cheaper to stay at than MBS.

As a point of comparison, a night's stay at MBS costs between $459 and $529 per night for a Deluxe Twin Room. You pay "as little as" $459 per night if you don't mind a lower floor. But whether it's high or low floors, you get to visit the world-famous infinity pool all the same.

Two fake bombs found near Bangkok forum of world powers: Police

BANGKOK - Thai police said they found two fake bombs on Thursday (Aug 1) near the venue of a regional security meeting in Bangkok of world powers and members of the Association of South-east Asian Nations (Asean) grouping.

The packages prompted a brief security scare but were quickly deemed harmless.

"There were two boxes that contain no material that could cause explosion. There are ball bearings and wire circuits, which is likely to cause alarm," police deputy spokesman Krisana Pattanacharoen told Reuters.

He said security around the Asean forum had been tightened but it was unclear whether the meeting was the apparent hoax's target.

China's top diplomat Wang Yi and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are attending the forum along with other regional and global officials.

Police Major General Tawatchai Mekprasertkul told Reuters the packages were placed across the street from the forum venue, near a police station where Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was due to visit on Friday.

Krisana said security cameras had shown a man wearing a yellow shirt placing the packages and police were trying to identify the suspect.

MEERA BAI

MEERA BAI

Meerabai was born in Merta, Rajasthan in 1498. She was a Rajput princess, her father's name was Ratan Singh. When she was just four years old she showed deep affection for her lord Shri Krishna.

Meerabai was married to Bhoj Raj, ruler of Chittor. She did not pay any attention to him, as she firmly believed lord Krishna to be her beloved.

Meerabai used to sing devotional songs in praise of her lord. Akbar and his court musician Tansen came in disguise to Chittor, to listen to Meera's devotional and inspiring songs.

Her brother in law Vikramaditya tried to kill her on many occasions by mixing poison in prasad, sending snake in a basket. Each time she was rescued unharmed by the lord.

Her last days, she left Chittor and went to Merta, but finally went to Dwarka, where Vikramaditya sent some brahmins to bring her back. But she wished to visit her lord's temple one last time, where she miraculously merged in the image of Shri Krishna.

This painting is made on A3 size cartridge sheet with Acrylic colors.
Thanks and have a blessed day.
