In Love with High Heels

Shoes of every make and style are loved by women across the world but it is the heels whether stilettos or platforms that is adored and desired in abundance.

Today’s girls love different types and appearances of high heels. Kitten heels, pumps, court heels, stilettos, wedges, peep-toe high heel shoes – you name them and the girls have them all.

Earlier heels were worn by only high society girls and wearing them was considered not appropriate and dignified but today heels are seen as a classy and polished form of everyday fashion. Today women wear it everywhere whether at workplaces, in evening parties or any place. It adds to their posture and confidence.

I too loved to wear stilettos a lot in my workplaces before I had children. Now I have switched to kitten heels. Much comfortable to wear and give the same confidence. I love to buy different colors of them to match with my clothes.

Here I sketched high heel shoes with the help of a black gel pen and watercolors.

Thanks and have a nice day ahead.

Client’s book explores Mexican-American heritage

A recent editing client of mine has published his first book, a history of Mexican-American heritage as seen through his family tree. Nikolas Gonzales' "Moraga Deconstructed: Illuminations in Mexican-American Heritage," examines the trajectories of Latin-American history across the world and in the United States through contemporary lenses and uses familial connections as a vehicle with which to intimately approach these histories. Among Gonzales' ancestors is Jose Joaquin Moraga, one of the founding commanders of the San Francisco Presidio in 1776. The book can be purchased online in paperback or ebook. Contrasting Different From vs. Different Than

Sometimes writers struggle over which of these two phrases to use. One definitely is better than the other – usually. Different from means “to contrast two things.” For example, if you wanted to show how one football team is strikingly dissimilar to another team, you might write The Los Angeles Rams play an offensive scheme that is different from the New York Giants. Different than also means “to contrast”; the two words in the phrase often are split, as in Steve took a different approach to his science project than Mike did. Traditionally, most editors prefer different from over different than if only because the latter phrase is split. Because of this, different from is far common in writing than different than. Sometimes though, different than actually results in a shorter, more clear sentence. For example, if the above example sentence for different than were written with different from, it would read as, Steve took an approach to his science project different from that used by Mike. I recommend using different from, but in cases where you can avoid clunky sentences, go with different than.
